Book titled "Lost In Time" by Z' Rya S. on a marble surface, with a dark forest cover, beside gold glasses and a saucer.

Lost in Time was one of the handful of books that were drawn from my Birthday Book Bash, and I was quite thrilled that not only one but two poetry books were drawn. I couldn't wait to explore and consume the prose this lyricist had to offer. I find it uncanny as well, that this book review of Lost in Time by Z' Rya S. came at just the right time, seeing as April is National Poetry Month. I found that the author's style and lyrical arrangement of words really immersed me as the reader, challenging me to sort through my emotional responses, and reflect afterwards. Each poem felt like its own separate journey, urging me to reflect on my own experiences throughout life and also look at life through the eyes of another person.

The themes examined in Lost in Time are familiar, addressing indifference, darkness, and melancholy. I thought that these themes reflected some of the vast complexities of the human experience and our emotional states of vulnerability, insecurity, and even self-doubt in an interesting way. I found these poems to be distinctively written, with vivid imagery and emotional depth meant to promote introspection and contemplation. I found myself enchanted by the way the words weaved through darkness, evoking various thoughts and feelings. Overall, Lost in Time is not just a thought-provoking collection or moving compilation of poems. Rather, it is an exploration of the human condition, a reflection of feelings, and an invitation to reminisce with our own emotions.

The Review

“Lost in Time” a short book filled with poetry featuring morose and melancholic symbolism. The poems were beautifully dark including bouts of grief, sorrow, and sometimes blasé feelings. I felt a connection to some poems more than others as is natural. Some of my favorites included: Immortality, Lost Time, Dreadful Daze, Time to Pretend, Smile as You Mean It, and Dream Intercept. I feel like lyrically, these poems would be best suited for an 16+ crowd and would recommend.
