As an adult, I can't recall reading a book that was a collection of stories, which is quite surprising considering the vast array of literature available today. The last time I read a compilation of short narratives was likely during my formative years, when I was still exploring the diverse genres and styles that literature has to offer. Therefore, when I stumbled upon this particular collection, I found myself filled with a mix of curiosity and apprehension. Initially, I approached the book with a sense of skepticism, harboring doubts about the depth and richness of each individual story. I came into reading a book of this kind thinking that there wouldn't be enough details to each story to have them feel complete or to completely satisfy the reader's thirst for a well-rounded narrative. I envisioned brief snippets or fragments of ideas that might leave me wanting more, perhaps feeling unfulfilled by the brevity of the tales. However, this book proved my original theory wrong in the most delightful way possible.

Abby Geni's effortless writing style captivated me from the very first page. Her prose flows smoothly, drawing the reader into her world with a sense of ease that feels both inviting and engaging. Each story is crafted with meticulous attention to detail, showcasing her remarkable ability to weave intricate narratives that are rich in emotion and depth. Geni's skillful storytelling transports the reader to various settings, immersing them in the lives of her characters, each of whom is painted with vivid strokes that bring them to life. As I progressed through the collection, I found myself increasingly impressed by how Geni managed to encapsulate complex themes and emotions within the confines of shorter narratives. Each story felt complete, with a beginning, middle, and end that left a lasting impact. The depth of each narrative challenged my preconceived notions about short stories and highlighted the power of concise storytelling. In conclusion, Abby Geni's remarkable talent for narration not only dispelled my initial concerns but also opened my eyes to the beauty of storytelling in its most succinct form.

The Review

"The Body Farm" by Abby Geni is a series of different stories woven together by the ties of what it is to live in our bodies. Each story quintessentially defines what it is to be humans. From birth to death our bodies are the same although different as each of our bodies has a new story to tell. I absolutely loved this book, each story enthralled me in a different way evoking feelings I didn’t expect to feel through a series of short stories. I highly recommend this book and I plan on looking into the other books by Abby Geni as I simply thought her writing was phenomenal!
